The show will be aired on the 1stof January 2014 on the NTA network from 9am to 10:30am. Thediscussion will be a fusion of issues peculiar to women in our society including welfare of the girl child, girl child marriage issues, and increase in rate of sexual abuse. Since the governor will be around, also to be discussed is the new Lagos State Law protecting Women from domestic violence in Lagos and health problems women encounter.
“Change-A-Life Nigeria is passionate about children in general and the girl child in particular. Girl child abuse has been prominent in the news in Nigeria this year. We chose this topic to enlighten the masses about the ripple effect of this crime on our communities and why it's necessary to nip it in the bud with effective and enforced legislation,” said JumokeGiwa, the executive director of CAL.
What makes the show special is that viewers get to see their celebrities in a new light. It will be fun to see the serious side of the ‘Kokolete Master’ as he will be talking to the youth out there about the road to success. D’Banj will also be performing his hit songs live on the show. On the whole, the show promises to be both enlightening and entertaining.
While affirming that the governor of Lagos is committed in talking about issues to be raised, Giwa also hopes that other state governments follow Fashola’s example. “The governor will have an extensive discussion with the host of the show, FunmiIyanda. We anticipate that this discussion and interaction will also encourage other states to make such laws to protect the female child in their communities,” she said.
