According to Reuben Abati, who is Special Adviser on Media and publicity to President Goodluck Jonathan, the President was not affected by the gun battle that occured today around the headquarters of the Department of State Services and the presidential villa.

The presidential villa has one of its gates overlooking the SSS headquarters.
The SSS issued a statement shortly after the attack claiming that the gun battle began after a detainee disarmed an operative and tried to effect a jailbreak
