Nigerian Army Won't Rest Until Boko Haram Is Ended - Chief of Army Minimah

Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Major General Kenneth Minimah, on Friday gave an assurance that the Nigerian Army will not rest until the Boko Haram insurgency was brought to an end.
He said that a lot has been achieved by the army in the fight against the terrorists in the north eastern part of the country.
At a farewell ceremony and handing over organised in his honour by the Nigerian Army Infantry Corps, Jaji North West Nigeria, General Minimah stated that the army would not rest until it had crushed the terrorists in the affected areas.
The army chief explained that to achieve this feat, his administration made the issue of training, procurement of more equipment and improved welfare of soldiers, top priorities and further commended the troops for their sacrifices towards restoring peace to the troubled north east.
The ceremony, which held at the foremost military institution, marked the last official assignment by the outgone commander of the Army school of Infantry Corps, Jaji, who is now the country’s Chief of Army Staff.
His arrival was heralded with a Guard of Honour, and then a beautiful parade by officers before he preceded to the business of the day – the official handover to his successor.
General Minimah also used the occasion to inform officers and soldiers on the need to redouble their efforts towards winning the war against terrorism.
The appointment of General Minimah as Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff is believed by many Nigerians as a round peg in a round hole, having headed the sensitive arm of the army, the infantry corps.
With assurances that the army will not rest until they restore peace to the north east, Nigerians are hoping that such statement will be marched with action, especially in the areas of motivation of the troops who have put their lives on the line to ensure that the insurgents are brought to their knees
