That's a wrap! Rihanna wears bed-head hairstyle as her emotional mother presents her with the Icon Award at the AMAs
She's been there through the good times - and the bad.
And it was clear the emotion was getting to Rihanna's mother Monica Braithwaite as she presented her daughter with the Icon Award at Sunday night's American Music Awards.
Her voice breaking, the retired Afro-Guyanese accountant told her: 'Rihanna, I'm so proud of you tonight.'
Monica continued: 'I know the journey in your career has not always been an easy one, but tonight I applaud you and admire you for being so strong and so positive and so humble and so focused.
'It's amazing how you always manage to take good from all your experiences. I'm so blessed to be a part of this historic moment.
'I just want to say how proud I am to present to you the first-ever AMA Icon Award.'
And it wasn't just her mother who found the moment moving.
Rihanna opened up as she told her: 'Just about 20 years ago is when I really started making your life a living hell - my annoying little husky man voice, you call it.
'You keep me driven, you keep this special.'
The Unapologetic singer said she couldn't believe she was receiving such an honor at the tender age of 25 and thanked her 'Rihanna Army.'
For her big night the body-confident star first showcased her toned midriff and shapely thighs in a black bra-top and high-waisted sheer lace skirt.
The Caribbean diva - born Robyn Fenty - later changed into a plunging tuxedo-style maxi-dress and pearly choker to perform her hit Diamonds and receive her Icon Award.
But it was actually the Barbadian beauty's bed-head hairstyle which garnered the most buzz in the Twitterverse.
Riri smoothed her new black bob down with numerous bobby pins - a fuss-free updo know as a 'doobie wrap.'
And her supporters couldn't have been more impressed.
'LMAO. "Did Rihanna" is trending. Yes ya'll she did wear a doobie wrap on national TV and not give a d***,' her fan GoghWilde tweeted.
'I think rihanna is the only celeb whos gangsta enuff to go to the biggest award show with her hair wrapped, pins showing and pull it off,' her fan TriniBabyLicia wrote.
Rihanna's Styled to Rock currently airs Friday nights on the Style Network.
The Battleship starlet will also voice Gratuity 'Tip' Tucci in next year's DreamWorks animated alien flick Home alongside Jennifer Lopez, Steve Martin, and Jim Parsons.
